Luxury tourer- Lexus lc 500 driving report

Both the LF-C2 and above all the LF-LC shone as concept cars on the exhibition stages around the world. It was never certain that Lexus would actually build it in the form of the luxury Gran Tourer Lexus LC. The stunning and truly unique design of the Lexus LC 500 may offend one or the other. But one thing cannot be denied to him, he breaks up the lazy wasteland.

Razor-sharp design combined with a 5.0 liter V8 vacuum cleaner

And not just because of its angular, razor-sharp design. The uniqueness opens up when you look under the long hood. A 5.0-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine without any supercharging or turbocharging. Not only is the sound a real (without artificial volume increase) performance, but also the power of the 477 horses. The voluminous engine does not come to life directly in the lower speed range, but only from just under 5,000 tours. As soon as the 540 Nm torque is applied to the drive, it runs unchecked up to over 7,000 tours.

10-speed automatic makes the V8 a cruiser

Shifting takes place automatically in ten stages, with the first two gears in particular having a crisp, short ratio and on the other hand three overdrive gears waiting for the engine from the eighth gear. Thus the Lexus LC 500 can also be used for cruising without making the fuel card glow. The 5.0 liter V8 is as honest and simple as its engine concept itself. Eleven liters are easily enough for 100 kilometers, unless you are continuously in Sport + mode, which requires a little more super fuel. Then the rear-wheel drive pushes the 1.9 tonnes empty weight to over 280 km / h in a very short time. If all of this is too sporty for you, you can also use the LC 500h, a full hybrid based on a 3.5-liter V6. However, the output is only 359 hp.

The only drawback of an otherwise perfect car: the infotainment system

In any case, apart from the slightly wobbly infotainment system, Lexus shows what a luxury interior should look like. Sporty tailored to the driver, but with the finest selection of materials and, above all, long-distance comfort. The price is as fair as the drive of the Lexus LC 500. Both hybrid and V8 vacuum cleaners start at 99,200 euros, virtually with full equipment. You can then choose the Touring, Sport or Performance packages, which basically only change the rims, the roof or the seats.

As far as you look at the luxury coupé segment, the Lexus LC 500 has been an exciting vehicle that stands out even when it is stationary. The sound of the V8 vacuum cleaner is more than just the icing on the cake, it’s the cream with the cherry and the chocolate sprinkles on a high-calorie cake. The design of the LC has less to do with cake than with the razor-sharp art of sushi.
