World premiere for the skoda kamiq

In addition to Karoq and Kodiaq, there is now also the Skoda KAMIQ. The vehicle, which was designed and produced exclusively for the Chinese market, celebrated its world premiere in the Czech embassy in Beijing. The city SUV is intended to further support the continuing success of the Czechs in China.

Skoda KAMIQ with Karoq-like dimensions

The body of the city SUV measures 4,390 mm in length, 1,781 mm in width (without mirrors) and 1,593 mm in height. This makes the latest SUV from Skoda eight millimeters longer than the Karoq, but measures less in width and height than the compact SUV, which is also available in Europe. Even with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm, it only measures slightly less than the Karoq. However, there is an interesting new drive under the hood.

New performance level of the 1.5 TSI

Based on the 1.5 TSI (EA 211 evo), an 81 kW / 110 PS variant with 150 Nm torque is being delivered for China. The power is transmitted to the front axle via a 7-speed DSG. When and if this drive will also come to Europe is currently not known. So far, the VW Group has only offered the 1.5 TSI with 150 or 130 PS.

The lines of the crystalline headlights flow smoothly into those of the grill, which gives the KAMIQ a particularly determined expression. The precise, sharp-cut tornado line conveys a three-dimensional impression and, together with the 17-inch light alloy wheels in five-star double-spoke design, contributes to the sporty side view. The crystalline, horizontally arranged taillights and the reflectors set far outwards make the SUV appear wider.

Intelligent speech recognition exclusively for the Chinese market

A new connectivity solution is also available in the cockpit. The technological highlight of the system is the voice control from iFLYTEK, one of Asia’s leading providers of voice recognition based on artificial intelligence. The software understands regional Chinese dialects and even automatically learns individual or local language styles. Smartphones can be integrated via the Apple CarPlay, Baidu Carlife and MirrorLink interfaces and compatible apps can be operated via the 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1,280 x 720.
